Filed under: emergencies at the conference — waynechristensen @ 6:32 am

For security and medical emergencies on the Macquarie University campus call 9850 9999.

Note that you should call this number instead of an ambulance – security will call an ambulance for you and direct it to your location.

Submissions to the conference proceedings

Filed under: ASCS proceedings — waynechristensen @ 6:02 am

Submitting a paper for the proceedings is optional; those who wish to do so should send their paper by 30 October, four weeks after the conference, to the conference email address (ascs09@maccs.mq.edu.au).

The guidelines for submission are as follows:
- Papers should conform to the formatting of the ASCS 2009 template.
- The submission should be a .doc rather than a .docx file.
- The maximum length is eight pages.
- The document name should be your registration number (e.g., if your registration number is 47 then the document should be called ’47.doc’).
- If you do not have your registration number then please use your name (firstname.lastname) as the document name (e.g., elizabeth.schier.doc).

All papers submitted will be refereed, and (if accepted) will count as an E1 publication.

The proceedings will be published as a website, and as a CD-ROM (available on request). The URL for the web site will be announced when this has been finalised.

There is a prize for best student paper at the conference which will be judged on the basis of the papers submitted for the proceedings.

Student prize

Wireless internet access at the conference

Filed under: internet access at the venue — waynechristensen @ 5:24 am

Here are the details for accessing the wireless network:

Network Name (SSID) – “Macquarie University Wireless”

The first time you try to go to a website you are re-directed to a login page.

username : ascs2009
password : maccs2009

Things to note.
1.  The network name isn’t to be confused with the wireless network named “Macquarie University” which is our old wireless network.
2.  If you only want to use email or an IM client (but don’t want to view a webpage), you must nevertheless still open your web-browser and login.
3.  The username/password combo will automatically be disabled at 11:55 on Friday night.
